CD137, also known as 4-1BB, is an important immunomodulatory molecule that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily. It is mainly expressed on activated T cells, natural killer cells (NK cells) and dendritic cells. The ligand for CD137 is 4-1BBL, which is mainly expressed on antigen-presenting cells. Activation of CD137 can enhance the proliferation and survival of T cells and promote the secretion of cytokines such as IFN-γ and IL-2, thereby enhancing the immune response. This property makes CD137 an important target for cancer immunotherapy, where activation of CD137 can enhance the anti-tumor immune response. In addition, the CD137 signaling pathway also plays a complex role in autoimmune diseases and transplant rejection.
